Little Men

Louisa May Alcott's Little Men follows the adventures of street urchins Nat and Dan as they adjust to civilized life at Plumfield School for Boys.

Sent to the school by a kind benefactor, they must give up their independence and learn to live by the rules. The school is run by Jo March, everyone's favorite "Little Woman" and her husband, Professor Fritz Bhaer. As schools go, it's pretty relaxed. But the rules, "honesty and a willingness to learn," come hard to Nat and Dan. There's trouble from the start, with Nat being less than truthful and Dan teaching the other boys to fight bare-fisted. Professor Bhaer is ready to have Dan thrown out. Jo, however, knows a bit about mischief from her own youth, and she believes in the boys. With time, and support from Jo, Nat and Dan come to abide by the rules and to love Plumfield as their home.

Starring Mariel Hemingway as Jo, Chris Sarandon as Fritz, and talented newcomers Michael Caloz and Ben Cook as Nat and Dan. Louisa May Alcott's Little Men is a fun-filled adventure for the entire family. Though set in the late nineteenth century, it's a fresh, timeless tale that kids and adults alike will love.

Fritz and Jo are played by Mariel Hemingway and Chris Sarandon The Group Of Boys

Mariel Hemmingway, Chris Sarandon, Ricky Mabe, Julia Garland, Michael Caloz, Tyler Hynes, Ben Cook (clockwise from top).

NOTE: When I got a tip from a big fan of Judy Garland, saying that Miss Garland was not in this movie, I searched again for the movie and found that it was actually Julia Garland who was in the movie, and though the picture says it's not, you can check it out for yourself at The Internet Movie Data Base (IMDB) by typing in either Julia Garland, or looking up Little Men, then clicking on the 1997 version of the movie. (Thanks Tiffany for pointing this out.)
