The Sign

Synopsis: Melancholy Jo awaits her birthday, questioning the choices she has made. - TV Guide

Running Plumfield and teaching the class all by herself has left Jo more overworked than ever. Meanwhile, the kids have their minds focused on other things than school, such as the juice company they just started. At night, while reflecting on the dreams she had wanted to accomplish, Jo questions the choices she's made in her life. She sends up a prayer asking for a sign, any kind of validation that the path she's chosen is the right one. In class, the situation becomes increasingly difficult, and when Jo learns from Nick that the kids are behind in their chores, she decides to pull the plug on their grape juice business. Later, when she catches Nan picking grapes instead of doing her chores, Jo storms off to the barn to verify if Nan pitched the hay as she was supposed too. As she climbs the ladder to the loft, Jo missteps and falls. She lands so hard that she loses consciousness. When she wakes up, she's in bed and can't feel her legs anymore. Jo sinks into depression; was this the sign she was waiting for? The kids must now help the person who has always been there for them. As for Jo, she must not only struggle to regain the feeling in her legs, but must regain her self-confidence as well.- CTV

Reson For Rating: A good episode that brought the occupants of Plumfield closer together (..why does that sound so corny?)
